“I was initially not going to have my homebirth pictures taken, because I thought I’d be annoyed with the clicking of a camera and having another body in my sacred birthing space. After speaking with my midwife and friends (who had great experiences with Keidi’s birth photography), I decided to give it a go and figured I’d ask for space if I felt the picture-taking was too intrusive. In the end, I am SO happy I engaged Keidi to capture my homebirth! It was the complete opposite of intrusive— she was so sensitive to the birth process (no doubt thanks to her doula training), and to be honest I hardly noticed she was there. At the end of it all, I have the most beautifully-captured pictures of my homebirth, and I can’t thank Keidi enough. And there were - for both of our photoshoots, birth and freshborn/family. Although we didn’t have a homebirth and the freedom to have photos taken during the birth as per hospital rules, Keidi managed to capture some amazing moments in the delivery room, like my daughter being born in the caul right after I gave birth standing up and lifting her onto me.
